Cochacamba Projects that have been completed Women’s Prison AdditionFalse accusations leading to imprisonment are common for the women of the barrio, often for years without access to a lawyer. While imprisoned, women are required to continue to care for their children, this means living with them in prison. Prisoners are required to pay a fee so HATN provided laundry facilities so the women could earn an income as well as provide a safe place for the children to play outdoors. Dental ClinicHATN’s work in Bolivia began in the city of Cochabamba. HATN completed a three-story community centre that houses a dental clinic and nine classrooms that are used for vocational training and provides a safe place for children to do homework. The dental clinic has become fully self-sustaining and provides dental care to Alto Cochabamba’s poorest citizens. Kumi Community Centre On the other side of Cochabamba, HATN provided a play area attached to the Kumi Community Centre. Kumi provides another safe zone for children left alone at home while their parents seek out an income. Meals, homework space and a play area are provided for these children. These projects are running successfully on their own.
